Bok Tower | Master Plan
Senior leadership of this National Historic Landmark property selected Tres Fromme and David Sacks, RLA, to facilitate a team-based collaborative exploration of the Gardens’ future. The heart of the planning process involved respecting founder Edward Bok’s and landscape architect Olmsted’s early Twentieth Century landscape while seamlessly integrating it with the non-historic parts of the property. Fromme facilitated the design team, Board members, Staff, and Volunteers to explore ways of enhancing and re-envisioning the non-historic areas, increasing visitation, retaining relevance, and generating on-site revenue.
A particular focus was aligning the master site plan with the development case statement to optimize the Gardens’ opportunities for a successful fund-raising campaign. First phase projects by other design firms but based on the 2011 Master Plan opened in 2017.
