Atlanta Botanical Garden Skyline Gardens | Garden Design
As ABG’s Landscape Design and Planning Manager, Tres Fromme collaborated closely Spurlock Poirier Landscape Architects to transform an underutilized and under-visited area into a vibrant visitor destination. Design goals included incorporating existing historic features, enhancing pedestrian and service circulation, enhancing wheelchair and stroller access, and creating event and activity spaces.
The elegantly contemporary design showcases a “million dollar” view, a spectacular panorama of downtown Atlanta. New spaces include an ever-changing Flower Walk, a renovated native Bog Garden, a relocated and expanded Cactus and Succulent Garden, and the Lotus Pool. An open-air pavilion (designed by architect James Choate) provides the Garden with a multi-functional “front porch” overlooking adjacent Piedmont Park. The Skyline Gardens opened in spring 2017 and Fromme designed several years of the summer annual display on the Flower Walk.
