Atlanta Botanical Garden Orchid Daze | Seasonal Display
Since 2006 (except for 2018), Atlanta Botanical Garden has collaborated with Tres Fromme on creating Orchid Daze, its much-loved late winter conservatory show. Fromme has worked closely with Staff on generating themes, designing overall layouts, developing planting designs, and conceptualizing show "props." The intent of every design is to display orchids so visitors observe new aspects of the plants and to reinvent temporarily the same three spaces within the Orchid Center.
Themes have included:
Frabel Glass (glass sculpture among orchids)
Gargoyles and Grace (garden antiques and orchids)
Gorgeous and Glass (pieces by diverse glass artists with orchids)
Towers of Flowers (vertical gardens with orchids)
Liquid Landscapes (orchids and water features)
Hanging Gardens (orchids in suspended displays)
Surreal Beauty (orchids in Surrealist Art inspired vignettes)
Impressions of Beauty (orchids with an Impressionism Art flair)
Pop! (orchids in a Pop Art aesthetic)
Orchids displayed with creative uses of trees, branches, and twigs
Orchids displayed in columns, curtains, and planes
Orchids displayed on hanging columns, groves of cut bamboo stems, and on wire curtains
Orchids of Latin America finding inspiration in the work of architect Luis Barragan
Orchids displayed with fabric uses in various manners
